3 Wheeler Buggies

A tri-wheeled stroller is ideal for off-roading and provides the most comfortable ride for infants. They are also easier to maneuver and push than a four-wheel buggy particularly those with fabric sling seats or seat units that are positioned snugly within the frame, providing the best 3 wheel stroller travel system geometry and weight distribution.

Three-wheeled vehicles are very stable, and this makes them an ideal option for off-roading (especially when equipped with a seat that is all-terrain or off-road). The seats are not able to recline fully, but they can be lowered down to the lowest setting. This should allow your child plenty of space and headroom.

A fabric sling is also available. It is advantageous in that it is placed inside the frame, instead of being placed on top of it as a seat that is modular. This means that it has a lower centre of gravity and a perfect weight distribution. This makes it easier to push, particularly over bumpy terrain and curbs. MFM reviewer Kath liked the way this style of seat handled challenges.

Alongside a huge shopping basket, this type of buggy typically has some quite useful features, such as an extended 50+ UV hood, an easy-to-use brake pedal, and a few game-changing visibility lights that appear from the handlebar and can be placed directly in front of the occupants to improve their safety when traversing difficult terrain.

If you're searching for a stroller that can grow with your family it's the sport(tm) is a world first, can accommodate the newborn, and later be modified to fit three or four children as they grow, all in one footprint.

Storage

The 3-wheeled frame makes a buggy much more sturdy to push one-handed and is also ideal for handling terrain that is difficult to navigate. However, it means that the shopping basket doesn't hold the same amount as a 4-wheeled buggy.

A good quality ATP will come with a great suspension, pneumatic tyres and an ergonomic handle that is cushioned to ensure your comfort. It should be able to accommodate a car seat, so you can use it right from the time of birth.

MFM's reviewers have discovered that the 3-wheeler frame can't pass through all doors in their homes, or small car boot - be sure you check the dimensions of the buggy when it's folded before buying if you're worried about space.

Look for a 3-wheeler with 2 (or 3 wheeled pushchairs!) seats. This is the most suitable option for your future and will save you money. The iCandy Strawberry Sport is one of the most sought-after. It can be used as early as day dot as a single buggie and later transformed into twin buggies once your baby is walking.

Tyres

These tyres cushion bumps and uneven surfaces to make your child's journey more comfortable. They are commonly found on pushchairs like the Phil & Ted's Sport which MFM reviewer Kath said provided "an outstanding ride for her toddler". She also noted that the grippy tyres on it made it easier to handle kerbs and cobbles.

These tyres can be difficult to maintain and will require air pressure topped up regularly. They are also more susceptible to punctures than foam tyres, so you'll need to ensure that you have a repair kit with spare tubes and a pump on hand when you are out and about with your buggy.

PU tyres can be used on pushchairs since they are less expensive than air-filled tyres, but they are just as robust. You can tell PU tire treads by their matte appearance and soft feel. They also slide across smooth and tidy surfaces.

You can usually discern the difference between PU and air-filled tire by running your fingers over each one. If it feels firm, then it's rubber and when it slides, it's a PU. You can also confirm that your buggy is fitted with PU tyres by slipping the tyres on flat, clean surfaces They'll be able to roll easily and fit snugly into their wheel hubs.

Foam tyres can withstand the rough terrain that comes with high-performance buggies. The downside of this is that the foam may compress and make your buggy appear less stable as it loses its springy nature. These tyres are also noisy because they generate lots of noise when you turn and navigate around town.
